Here in Maine today, at the community garden I harvested 3 Sugar Baby watermelons that are big enuf and should be ripe. They weigh, front to back, 7.5, 8 and 15 lbs. That last one is a whopper for the variety. The 14-pounder I harvested a couple days ago was ripe and ready and tasted very good.
I also harvested anything else that looked like it was edible. Two Soleil squash, one Bush Baby Zucchini, and lots of black cherry tomatoes.
At home I picked the only 3 Honey Crisp apples that grew on any of my dwarf trees. Thats good for a tree just planted last year. The Matt's Wild cherry tomatoes are snack size and tasty so we eat them for snacks watching TV at nite. The two green toms in front are Green Zebra variety and should be green. They are the only ones ready and I've never grown them before. Unfortunately, they are growing in my perennial bed which only gets sun in the afternoon for about 4-5 hours tops. I just thought I'd stick extra seedlings here and there to see if I could get something, so I'm happy to get anything.
Those in the path of Earl, I hope you stay safe and your garden is harvested of most of its crops.
HAPPY GARDENING!
